CityLinks provides afford

They don’t call us poor college students for nothing! That’s why Sarah Lawrence provides CityLinks, a program sponsored by Student Affairs, which enables students to attend shows in the city at a reduced cost.

Once a show is announced, students can sign up for tickets for 48 hours. If the number of students who want to go exceeds the number of tickets, a lottery is held. The lucky few chosen get the tickets and possibly free transportation.

To kick off this year, CityLinks took 18 students to see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, a show nominated for the Best Musical Tony last year.

Among its talented stars is Dan Folger, who, for his portrayal of William Barfee, won a Tony for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical.

Those who were lucky enough to go had a wonderful time. First-year Grace Pak said, "CityLinks is great for a student like me who is always looking for new ways to get around and see great shows. I loved everything about the show. All of the characters were so eccentric!"

This semester, CityLinks is going to see The Light in the Piazza, Drumstruck and The Nutcracker. Sign up sheets will be posted from 9 a.m. on Oct. 10 until 9 a.m. on Oct. 12.
