In Competition for Senate Funds

Since when is competition such a bad thing? Last week we went to Senate to get more money for this semester’s edition of The Little Jackie Paper. Apparently it’s a very contentious subject for Senate. And why? They told us that we compete with the Sarah Lawrence Review for submissions. But what’s wrong with that? Does the Review publish interviews with professors? Do they publish science papers and computer programs? Do they publish bread recipes, for God’s sake? No. Moreover, it comes out once, at the very end of the year. What could be wrong with seeing more work more often? So if we are in competition with the Sarah Lawrence Review, then so be it. We fill a very different place on campus than they do. There should be as much stuff printed on campus as possible—the more the better. Let us have diversity of literature!
